On July 15, 1974, Dr. William Armistead became head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. On June 30, 1975, after becoming the first female chief veterinarian in the United States and the only woman in the Tennessee medical department, Dr. Eleanor Green became head of the Landscape Conservation Department.

Dr. David Slauson has retired as Head of the Department of Pathobiology, Dr. Hildegard Schuller has been appointed interim Head. After the retirement of Dr. Ed Schroeder, Dr. Dorcas Schaeffer was also appointed interim dean of veterinary medicine and associate professor of veterinary medicine.
Tookes said he first learned something was going on in January when he received a call from Dr. George Brown at the Farragut Animal Clinic in Knoxville. At Clinton Highway Veterinary Hospital, Snow said the back-to-back burglaries were the first he had experienced.
