Fran Faucette1's BioMy continuous passion for the unusual has always left me searching for something unique and different. Because I believe that jewelry is a personal expression, each piece is inspired by the expression of my personal life experiences and by the personalities that touch me. This inspiration is then transferred into designs and hand crafted. Each piece has unique blends of traditional and contemporary influences. Some pieces are subtle and delicate and other pieces are bold and dramatic. The importance in the creation is that each piece remains original and expressive.
I have always felt a need to be creatively expressive but did not find my true calling until after I worked twenty years in the hotel industry. I then quit my job and have been pursuing my calling ever since. I finally realize that it wasn’t the paint and paintbrush that was calling me but it was a desire to create handcrafted jewelry, an object that would connect me to people all over the world.
Polymer Clay
Through my artistic evolution I have not only found a passion through the creation of jewelry, but I have also developed a passion for sculpture as well. Sculptural pieces are crafted with an array of mixed media; however, most of the three-dimensional work is created out of polymer clay. I have found that the creation of sculpture takes my creativity and self-expression to greater and improved heights. Nothing is more satisfactory to me than to breath life into a lump of clay, creating a higher and deeper expression of myself.
Wire
My long attraction to natural stones and gems finally led me to developing wire wrap techniques and skills. Through the dedication of this systematic and precise craft I have realized that I am truly accomplishing all of my dreams and am a true inspiration to myself. I find working with stones to be just as satisfying and expressive as working with clay and another means in which I can touch others.
Workshops/Craft and Fine Art Shows
My first teaching experience was in the fall of 2003. At that time I found yet another calling. Teaching has become an aspect of my career that is very important to me. It excites me in a different, indescribable way that is unlike the excitement that I experience through the process of my personal creations. I find myself continuously astonished by the gratitude and the education that I receive from my students. I have also found great satisfaction through the craft and fine art shows in which I have participated. These shows have allowed me to actualize the final phase of my dreams by allowing me to connect to people through which I can connect to the world.
